Cardiff's Lesbian and Gay Mardi Gras festival is held every September and Cardiff Mardi Gras is now the second largest free gay event in the whole of United Kingdom. Located in Cardiff's spectacular Bute Park, situated close to Cardiff train station and at the rear of Cardiff Castle in central Cardiff, the Lesbian and Gay Mardi Gras has entrance in Castle Street, next to Cardiff's new Millennium stadium, and another close to Cardiff's Civic Centre.

With large gay parades, carnivals and general Cardiff festivities, the Cardiff Gay Pride Festival is free and always attracts large crowds. Centred around the large stage area, with constant music by many major bands and pop stars, other events at the Cardiff Mardi Gras include gay blessings, a dance tent, a cabaret tent, picnic and seating areas, a ball held in the City Hall and much more besides.
